Happy Halloween!

Well, Tobin and I are hiding out in our house, trying not to turn on any lights so it doesn't look like we're here! Tobin already tripped over a marble plant stand that has been for there over a year! I know, I know...we're scrooges that don't hand out candy! I've just been burned one too many times by kids that 1)don't even attempt to dress up and carry around their pillowcase wanting handouts 2)are taller than me and have NO business still trick-or-treating and 3)kids that are way too greedy and don't like the two peanut butter cups that I hand them and ask for more, or better yet, stick their hand in the bowl and grab as much as they possibly can. Don't get me wrong, I love the original idea and how it was done when I was a kid, and I love the season and the decor. But, from a teacher perspective, the kids will be wound up for the rest of the week on a sugar high for sure!

Tobin and I did enjoy our evening though! We finally went and bought my wedding ring!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited and I LOVE IT! I feel a little weird about taking a picture and posting it, so the important part is that we went together and both had input until we decided on the one that is on my hand right now. Tobin likes the more traditional solitaire and I like the antique look. I like that we compromised and got something we both wanted to see for many years. My eyes do hurt from looking for inclusions so intently through that loop! I will need to get the engagement and wedding bands welded together at some point.

A teacher friend of mine wants 3 Halloween LOs, so here was a quick one put together in about 30 minutes. The next LO is one of my youngest nephew. This lil' ornery guy had been bathed and was ready for bed. He even had Calamine lotion all over his forehead where the the darn mosquitoes had tried to eat him alive. Between mom, Mel, and I, we all thought someone else was watching him. Meanwhile, he decided he was not done with bath time!!!

  1. That's so funny that you are hiding out from the Trick or treaters. Trai and I were just commenting on how dead our street was. We felt bad b/c as we were walking to another house, some poor little guy was walking up to our door to get candy. I know what you mean about the older kids though...it's gotten a little crazy.

I can't wait to see your ring. You must come down and show me first thing in the morning.

And,you've got to journal that story about griff on the page...it is hilarious, but i didn't see any journaling.

  2. Yeah! No journaling, I agree w/ Kodi that you should explain what my lil stinker was doing in a tub of water w/ his jammies on!

So you will have to send me a pic on my own email of your ring. I'm not waiting till Thanksgiving to see it!! Congrats!

  3. I hid tonight as well. I usually have candy, but I was gone during prime trick or treat time. I got Memphis in b/4 dark. This is NOT a good holliday for him outside.

Ring??? You could do a quick pic on the web cam and save time. I think Kodi would like that.

  4. I didn't even think about webcam! Good idea!

I wanted to journal, but wasn't sure where to do it within that design...any suggestions?

Well, we tried to leave the house and were as sneaky as could be. We turned off all lights, snuck our the garage door, and the garage lightbulb was even unscrewed! But, 3 lil girls walked up our drive all dressed so pretty. Tobin felt badly, so he ran up to them and gave them $1 each. They all ran back to their parents and yelled, "MONEY!!!" So funny!

  5. I wanna see this RING!!! I wasn't aware you were waiting for one. I'm just out of that loop:)

As far as Halloween goes...I dress up Diesel & take him out to the folks. He loves it...they love it! And of course, he's kind of like my kid, so I guess I love it too! I usually decorate the outside of my house, but I didnt do it this year. I love to hand out candy too, but didnt do that either. I am one to let the kids take as much candy as they want because I always wished as a kid I could do that:)

  6. I noticed a lot of people were hiding out last night when we were trick-or-treating. Or if they were at home handing out candy - some didn't say a word to the kids. I didn't like that - it totally spoils the fun. I think having Halloween parties are the way to go. We might do that next year.

I want to see your ring, too!! Please send me a pic, ok?!

  7. I know we would both dress up and do the candy thing if we had a child. I understand what you're saying Jenny. They should talk to the kids, but I think the kids should also say "trick-or-treat" and many don't anymore. Even the cute girls that Tobin handed money to didn't say a peep! Just held their bag open!

  9. Hey Holly! I love your Who Me page! That is too cute! Glad someone has a wedding ring:) Just kidding...I am really happy for you, and I think it's cool that you guys took your time and did it that way. I'm still not ready for ring shopping quite yet. Hope you have a good week!

  10. Thanks Amy! About the ring, it makes me feel good that we waited and went together to find something we both liked. Plus, waited for a financially good time to do it.
