One crazy month~

Tanner's eyes are much better; however, he is developing a cold with congestion. He received his 3rd Synagis injection on Thursday. I guess RSV season has really hit and I just pray we evade that nasty virus! Most of the babies that have developed RSV have been daycare babies, so maybe we have that on our side. I can tell you I am washing and sterilizing everything in site! He got his 1st boo-boo on his eye. We're not sure how it happened. maybe he scratched himself in his sleep because he just woke up from a nap with it. You can see it above his left eye if you click on the picture of him swinging.

Aside from the cold, Tanner is teething something fierce! His top two teeth are coming in between the incisors. Still only three teeth on the bottom row. This hasn't helped his crankiness much, but he generally smiles more than he cries. He recently figured out how to pinch me and pull my hair when he is really throwing a fit. That, in turn, makes me the crankier one!

We woke up to a beautiful snow this morning. Too bad Tanner can't enjoy it. It really is pretty!

Tanner has also learned a new trick...Tobin had to lower the mattress in his crib due to this. Even though it was cute, it scared us both because he could have easily tumbled out! He absolutely loves to stand up now. While lying on his back, he will grab your hands and use his lil' muscles to pull himself up to a standing position. He just grins and giggles and smiles up a storm!

If it's not one thing, it's another!

Over the weekend, Tanner developed some kind of eye infection. Our babysitter's son had the same thing, but over a week ago. I guess it could have incubated for awhile... John had pink eye and double ear infections. Hopefully I caught Tanner's early enough. He hasn't been pulling at his ears at all, but I noticed some yellowish-white gunk in the corner of his right eye when he woke up Saturday morning. Not knowing how contagious it was, I immediately wiped it out with my finger. This continued every 30 minutes or so, until I noticed a little puffiness. I called the on-call doc and was routed to the nurse in St. Louis! He has been especially needy and wants to be held a lot. He also sleeps WAY more than usual--three naps yesterday totaling over four hours! Upon the first call to the nurse, Tanner did not meet the criteria for eye drops. I, however, was told how to properly cleanse the eye and told to use VERY good hand-washing techniques. After another nap, he woke up with redness and a bloodshot-look in his right eye. I called in these symptoms and they called in the drops. As our financial luck would have it lately, our pharmacy was closed (we can only go to the pharmacy at Dillon's stores), so we had to have it called in to a Wal-greens, without insurance, and pay full price. I cannot say that he's much better yet, but at least the antibiotics will have been in his system 24 hours prior to work tomorrow. We simply cannot keep passing this stuff back and forth between babies! The poor little guys need a break!

Dr. visit

As many of you know, I went to the doctor two weeks ago and did not have a great experience. He could not find the heartbeat and subsequently brought in a mini ultrasound machine. That too was unsuccessful. After a teardrop or two fell out of my eye, he tried convincing me that my baby was fine. That one was hard to buy, for me, because he had no real proof of that. But, we decided to have faith and trust the Lord and the doc. I left with an appointment in two weeks.

That appointment was today and I am happy to say that we both heard a very healthy heatbeat that was strong and consistent. No need for the ultrasound machine on this visit.

Short on time, but this pic was taken a few weeks ago. I think it is cute that you can see the incisors (vampire teeth) coming in. Such a happy baby!

Update~

I am finding it to difficult to keep this blog updated, yet I really want a record to print out someday. I need to prioritize this, but my time just flies by as it is.

I have been very stressed out lately, plus sick, plus taking care of a sick one, so it has taken it's toll on me! I am recovering, but I have a sneaking suspicion that as Tanner got over his cold and gave the virus to me, it is possible that I have unfortunately returned the favor. He sounds congested again this morning and we're back to nasal drainage from him. UGGGGGHHHHH!

Tobin has been very supportive and helpful, but he is tired too. We are both so ready for Spring that we can't stand it. Bring on the warm temps and sunny days. I would love to get Tanner outside and in nature!
The pregnancy is wearing me down, but I will soon be out of the 1st trimester and it is my hope that the nausea and sleepiness will end. They did with Tanner, so I can only hope!

Tanner is eating mixed baby foods such as strawbery/banana/peach and apple/blueberry. He still loves the sweet potatoes, but it is a little more trying to get green baby food in him. He'll slowly eat it, but it takes longer. He can finally sit up on his own, but only for awhile. Pillows all around him is good. He wants to get up and walk, but has made no attempts at crawling! He has three teeth on bottom and almost three on top. Teething has been no fun for any of us. It has even affected his sleeping habits, which were wonderful prior to teething. He regularly slept for 8-9 hours. Now, it is common to have to get up in the night 2-3 times and rock him back to sleep or find the binkie in the dark!

School is school. We are getting closer to MAP preparation and that will stink, but it is worth it in the end. Scrapbook Club and Science Club have slowed down due to our family illnesses and basketball. Everyone is so busy.

Well, that's all I can think of and need to shower before Tanner wakes from his nap! Take care everyone!

Getter better...all 3 of us...

Tanner has finished up his breathing treatments and seems to be all better. He did share the love with me, and Tobin eventually got it as well. Not sure if it helped me to be the one to give him the treatments or not, but it never settled in my lungs. With me, it has mainly been a sinus issue, and a bad one at that. I have had a 7-day headache and blown my nose until it was raw. Luckily, the 4 snow days prevented me from using any of my sick days. I would have undoubtedly had to stay home at least two days. So, even though we will lose President's Day now, and we have to tack on 3 days at the end of the school year, it was a well-timed snow event for our family. We all needed the rest. Maybe this week won't wear me out too badly!
