Momentarily depressed....but determined...

THIS IS WHAT I WANT!!! I am almost positive that the one in the store had two dowel rods across the bottom for spools of ribbon. I was SOOOOOO excited when Sonja and I saw it last night. It wasn't on sale. $80 and it isn't even real wood, but the design is so cute and the jars are a hard plastic, not glass, which is good. But, they are separate too. I decided to wait for the coupon today...the thrifty side of me kicked in. I sooo need a good organizational system. My scrap room gets to be a mess, in a hurry...continually, and it gets old. Plus, I already have two crown-moulding-like shelves in my scrapbook room that are white, which looks great on the cappuccino walls. So, needless to say, the idea was getting built up in my mind as I thought about it all night and planned what was to go in each jar.....I went to the Ozark Craft Fair today and didn't see anything better, so off I went to buy this with my 50% off coupon! I had BIG plans for getting it hung on the wall tonight and spending the rest of the evening putting fun stuff in each jar! Well, as Micheal's ALWAYS does, they put the entire store on sale and then offered a coupon for 50% off regular priced items. NOTHING IS REGULAR PRICE IN THERE THAT ANYONE WOULD WANT! I was so disappointed and depressed. I stood there, in disbelief, and stared at the stupid '25% off all scrapbook storage' sign and tried to figure out a way around it, as if..... so, little Mrs. Impatient me will have to wait until the sale goes off. Of course, there won't be a 50% off coupon next week. I should just count on that! Tobin gave me permission to go ahead and buy it, but I decided to put this out there and see if any of my scrappin' buddies know of a better organizational system for a better price anywhere else.

I should have some good family pics later on this week. Trevor, Sonja, and Hunter came in town this weekend and we took some outdoor pics. We all had a good time Saturday night over at Tobin's parent's house. This is little Hunter enjoying his popsicle.

  1. Do you HAVE to get everything half off to buy it? I'm not very thrifty, but aren't you buying paper and string??? Guys don't understand, I guess...

  2. No, but after being able to use them at two of the places I shop, I get accustomed to it. This stuff adds up. I dang well plan to use one when purchasing something at $80.00!!! Yes, normally a girl thing, but not exclusively.

  4. Thanks, Amy. I'll call and check! I think this shelf would be good for my ribbons(esp. if there is two dowel rods), paints, and some embellishments. I have some things, like stamps and ink pads, that I have absolutely NO system for and this shelf wouldn't begin to help that. What do you guys do for those?

  5. I bought two tape cases at Wal-Mart for like 2 or three dollars. They are the perfect size to hold stamp pads. (just like cassette tapes) Stamps...those are another story. I have an old dresser in my spare bedroom, which doubles as my scrap room, and that is where my wood stamps are. Acrylics are just kind of everywhere right now. They are so much smaller that it's not that hard to store them. Mostly in plastic containers.

  6. i bought one of those plastic drawer sets. it's tall with 3 clear drawers in it. i keep all my stamps in there. they are easy to see and i can just easily pull that drawer out and find what i'm looking for.

you are definitely in the halloween spirit, huh?

  7. Amy, Oooo, thanks for reminding me about the tape case idea! I had a friend in CTMH about 5 years ago that did that too! Great idea!

Kodi, good idea for stamps! That same CTMH friend used to get me into these 10-10-10 groups where we had 10 girls that agreed to pay $10 per mo. for 10 months and make cards and layouts. I bought stuff like crazy back then and haven't used it since it is packed away!

Does anyone think that this shelf could be purchased cheaper anywhere else and then painted white? It's not real wood, but maybe that makes it more lightweight on the wall.

  9. Holly, I bought a drawer system just like Kodi's but a small one. I, too, would like to have something for my ribbon now that I am using more of it! Let me know what you find out.

  10. Thanks, Allison! Will Kodi and I see you tomorrow at the sketch session?

No, Amy, I haven't had time this week, but I plan to do something! I did find out that taking an iten that is currently on sale, back to it's regualr price, in order to use the coupon IS NOT a regualr practice and she kinda acted liek I was crazy for asking. I did get the crabby manager, if you know who SHE is. They should have a coupon every week until Christmas an it is doubtful that the embellishment center will be on sale 2 weeks in a row.

April~ HEY! Good to hear from you! :) The emb. ctr. at Micheals has two dowel rods at the bottom for ribbon. The pics online only show one, but the box at Michaels shows two! That is the best thing I have come up with so far and sure beats the Dillons bag that mine are in now!! They will have to be taped or my cats will have a blast!

  11. As simple as it looks, get Tobin to build you one! Out of real wood too. Don't tell him I suggested that.LOL!

  12. We discussed it because he has a shopsmith. I think that it may be too heavy if made of real wood. Especially after all of the stuff is on it. I'm just too indecisive!!
