Spring update

Wow! How time flies! I knew I needed to be updating this blog, but my evenings fly by so quickly that there never seems to be enough time in the day to do things like this! Some day it may be hard to remember, but for now, my evenings are spent entertaining two little ones, unpacking and repacking diaper bags, fixing lunches for the next day, getting dinners ready, diapers, bath time, laundry, dishwashing, picking out clothes, reading books.....

KINSEY UPDATE: Since I last posted, Kinsey has been teething like crazy! She will soon have four on the top and three on the bottom. She has not only learned how to sit up this month, but is now pulling up on things and standing, too! She smiles constantly and even giggles, mostly at her big brother. She simply adores him and watches his every move. Tanner has taken to entertaining Kinsey some and likes to make her laugh. He tries to coax her into the ball pit or shows her how to crawl down the hallway. It is very cute! A little bit of temper has been shown by Miss Kinsey, but unfortunately I think she comes by that honestly. She has now learned to use her fingers and pick up Gerber Puffs, and could eat them nonstop. I like the hand-eye coordination involved, but we do limit them as it is only flavored starch and no need to add extra calories to her diet. Over Spring Break, we started the move from our bedroom to her crib for overnight sleeping. She is up to six hours before waking to be nursed. Tobin has a cot set up in her room for me to nurse her upon, then transition her back to the crib. That way there isn't any noise changes and she gets to stay horizontal, and so do I!!

TANNER UPDATE: Tanner is close to 30 pounds now and is a really good eater. We have found very little that he won't eat, but some days his appetite is bigger than others. He loves to play "Hide" and hides in the couch cushions or to the side of the refrigerator. He can be talked into doing about anything if he gets to go outside or even hang with Daddy in the garage. Here lately, if he barely bumps into something, he immediately has a "boo boo" and likes someone to kiss it. Tobin really isn't into that part and wants him to be tough, but I think it is cute. He has started hating bath time and cries through most of it. He has also been waking up overnight with some whimpering. Tobin has had to sleep in his room several nights. We assume it is bad dreams.

We had a very family-oriented Spring Break last week and while it was nice outside, we took a couple hiking trips with both kids. We visited the Nature Center and another State Park nearby. Kinsey rode in the backpacker and Tanner was pushed in the jogging stroller. The weather was mostly cold and rainy, so we spent a lot of time indoors. With that being said, it is even more obvious that we are running out of room in our house. It truly amazes me how quickly that occurs with all the toys, clothes, books, and stuff that comes along with two little ones.

Progress...on many counts

Well, we have finally gotten healthy and I consider that BIG progress since it took so long to get that out of our systems and out of our household in general. Everyone had it and passed around the love. At least for now, no more breathing treatments, which is pleasing to all involved. We are very blessed to have Amy, our in-home daycare provider that was willing to give breathing treatments and medicines when needed.

Another form of progress includes Little Miss Kinsey Anne. She has recently started sitting up all on her own and for long periods of time! One day I was writing in her baby book that she was trying to sit up, but was propping her whole body on one arm. The very next day I was writing that she figured out how to sit up without any props or cushions for support. Now, if you place her on her back, whether it be in her crib or on the living room floor, she immediately flips over and spins around so she can get into an upright position. She also likes to get on all fours and rock, but has taken the first attempts in crawling. She moves one arm out there and brings the opposite knee forward, but hasn't gone more than 2-3 steps in that directions without collapsing. She does make her way across a room, but I wouldn't necessarily call it crawling. It appears to be more of a wounded soldier movement!!!

She is very pleased with her new position and has taken to clapping all the time! If you appear happy to her, she claps. If you clap first, she'll join you! It's quite adorable, if I do say so myself. Other than that, she likes to pull off her socks and chew on her feet! She still loves peas and sweet potatoes, but doesn't care for the apple/blueberry pureed baby food. She loves biter biscuits and Gerber Puffs. Her hair is now getting enough length to it that it can actually get messed up! haha

Tanner is making his own version of progress in his attitude toward his Sissy. He calls her "Baby" or "Sissy," but hasn't attempted the name Kinsey. He likes to try to make her laugh and seems to play his own games with her on the way to Miss Amy's of a morning. She generally watches his every movement, but if she happens to be looking elsewhere, he will call out to her and try to get her attention. More often than not though, he seems to think that she is wanting his toys. Therefore, he pulls it as far away from her as he can and promptly tells her, "Mine!!" Of course, she in no way can grab a toy from him in most situations. Although, if he goes near her with his silky blanket, she does try her darnedest to get to it and latch on. She giggles a lot now, and smiles at just about anything. But, when she cries, she has started releasing tears and it has progressed to more of a real cry, as opposed to
the distinguishable "waaa, waaaa, waaaaaa" that we associate with infants or newborns. She doesn't cry very often, but when she does, she can get loud. She seems to want to be nursed right about the time Tanner and I go to his room to read books and go to bed. Tobin usually ends up giving her some kind of bedtime snack, then I come straight out of his room to nurse her. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I have about 30 minutes of "me time" and the it's bedtime.
