On Monday, Tanner went to daycare with Amy and we both went to work. Once home that afternoon, Tanner was wheezing with almost every breath. Long story-short, we found ourselves back at urgent care. Only this time, it was a 3 hour visit with x-rays, a breathing treatment, and an antibiotic. Pneumonia was ruled out, but upper respiratory virus was thrown around with possible RSV. He has only had one Synagis shot, so that scared me. We ended up having to buy a $215 nebulizer as they don't rent them anymore. He was to have a breathing treatment every 4 hours for one day and then every 6 hours for the rest of the week. Let me just tell you how tiring that is to set your alarm twice in the night and do that.
We had our follow-up dr. appt today with his new pediatrician. She decided it was not RSV as he would be much worse than he was acting (smiling , jumping around and laughing). She did say that he sounded awful and to go back to the every 4 hours, rather than every 6 hours. UGH! Don't get me wrong, whatever is best for him, but I am a zombie. If you have called, texted, or emailed, and I haven't replied, please know that I do appreciate it very much, but I barely have time to sleep these days,
amongst the treatments, meds, laundry, dishes, work,...I actually made a list of what medication to give Tanner, at what time of day, so I didn't forget anything. Oh yea, I am exhausted from the whole 1st trimester thing on top of all that. While pregnant with Tanner at this time, I came home from work and slept for two hours before dinner. That is a big no-can-do now.Tanner's spirits are great, but he has his moments of inconsolable crying. Sometimes it is throughout the whole 15 minute breathing treatment and sometime sit appears to be for no reason. The top 4 front teeth are all coming in at the same time, so that doesn't help matters. It also appears that his incisors will come in first so he will have a vampire appearance. Nice.
That stuff is just going around. Emmarie's entire daycare is that way. It's so pitiful to hear that many little ones coughing so miserably. One little one there ended up with pneumonia, so it's definitely something to watch. Breathing treatments are no fun, but they work really, really well.
ReplyDeleteAwwwe poor little guy. I hope he gets feeling better. It is no fun to watch your little one be sick. I am battling a new cold myself right now and just pray I don't pass it along to Preston.
ReplyDeleteyes, twice.
ReplyDeleteI hope your insurance is better than Trai's. That place charges like an emergency room practically. We went there one time and learned never to go again. We always go to Family Medical Walk-In now.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Dr Moore? Hope Tanner feels better soon, we've done the whole breathing treatment thing many nights! We used to say Tucker sounded like an old man with a two pack a day habit! You will be able soon to tell the difference between an attack that needs breathing treatments and one that doesn't! It does get easier.
ReplyDeleteWHAT!? I didn't know that ALL four top teeth were coming in at once! Guess I'd better call you tomorrow.
