I am getting more used to this new sleep schedule. Sometimes I try to stretch it out when Tanner starts to stir in the night. I find myself leaning over into the bassinet and trying the binkie routine, every 3-4 minutes, up to 5 times in a row, when all he really wants is to eat!
1. I had no idea that I would weigh more after delivery than I did before.
2. My hands are getting very dry and cracked from doing dishes (breastpump parts) 8x per day!
3. I wish I had bought stock in diapers a long time ago!
4. It is VERY important to put a washcloth over the penis before you remove the dirty diaper.
5. You won't know if your baby is eating too much until they puke. Dr's orders: "Feed them until they puke. Take note of how much they threw up and subtract that from the total mLs at the next feeding." hmm...OK? Makes sense.
That is interesting about the puking thing. Preston has puked a few times, so this is good to know. Right now he is going through a phase where he just wants to nurse ALL of the time - either because he's hungry or just wanting comfort. All I can say is Momma is getting SORE!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I don't know what my weight is right now but it sure feels like I'm the same as 9 months pregnant or around that. I have a lot of swelling (from the fluid in the IV's at the hospital) and my belly still looks about 5 months pregnant. Not to mention a few other things...but yeah....hoping a lot of this swelling will go down soon.
ReplyDeleteYOU look great though!
Hi Holly, it is Abby's sister. I have been keeping up with your postings. I am so happy that each time I check in things are always better than the last. Tanner is so cute! I am sure you are proud of him. He sure has came a long way in his short time of being here. A little friendly advice on the dry hands... you may want to try CeraVe cream. It is expensive, but it works wonders. You can buy it here in Rogersville at Family Pharmacy, but you may need to have it ordered in for you. Just make sure its the cream. It sure did help my daughters Excema. Best Wishes, Mandy
ReplyDeletei LOVE the picture with the dogs! i was wondering how the other 'kids' were adjusting. and i agree, you look great.
ReplyDeletehave you seen the diaper commercial where they put the little baby on a bed and he 'goes off' like a fire hose...on the ceiling, knocks over picture frames, etc.? i think of you every time i see that. lol
Great pics. It's funny how curious the dogs are. I guess they both like Tanner??? Nestle was completely irritated and stayed in another room. Thankfully, it didn't take too long for her to adjust. Nestle is now Em's favorite!
ReplyDeleteTobin has a shirt on in that pic! I think that's the first one I've seen like that since you came home from the hospital w/ Tanner. :)
Jenni- the nurse told me that after i offer tanner his first feeding (70mL), offer the pacifer before more food. if he kicks out that idea, then offer more food (15mL). babies love the sucking motion, so it is hard to know if they just want to suck, or they are really still hungry. you don't want to end up being your baby's pacifier, she said.
ReplyDeletethanks for the compliment! i made the mistake of asking for a scale while still in the hospital and weighed 2 lbs more than prior to delivery!
Mandy- Thank you very much for stopping by my blog and keeping up with us! Maybe we can meet someday! I'll have to get some of that cream! Thanks for the info!
Thanks, Cin!! I don't guess I have really watched TV in about a month! I hope that scenario does not happen tho!
Both dogs will come up and sniff Tanner's head and his pack n play. The cats are a tad more aloof, but disturbed by his crying grunts when he is wanting to be picked up or during diaper changes. He definitely hates to have his diaper changed, but also hates to sit there in it.
Kodi- thay made me smile that you noticed Tobin having a shirt on. I guess I get soo used to him wandering around the house without one that it doesn't occur to me when taking pics.
Hey I love the picture of the cat peeking into the crib, that was cute. I'm really glad I don't have to change all those diapers!lol I remember when I was babysitting two little boys, and they were in diapers! Thankfully I had a friend with me or it would have been a huge mess!!! I think you look good it doesn't look like you've gained any wieght or have a baby! Good luck ~Abby
