Feeling the pain...

I know I have 8 weeks to go, but this is getting more than uncomfortable. I must be a pansy, I guess. I immediately head to the couch when I get home from school, and Tobin caught me in position this past Wednesday! My large cat, 'Nilla, usually joins me. My feet feel bruised on the bottom, but not any worse on the swelling issue. My back is starting to hurt, which I'm thankful that hadn't happened prior to now. Sometimes, if I have been sitting or lying down for more than 15 minutes, I have to get up VERY slowly and walk all hunched over to get where I need to go. My belly is all tight and crampy and my pubic bone kills me. The doctor said it is being stretched apart. YIKES! I notice that I am moving more slowly overall, too. My principal even teasingly said that I definitely have the pregnant lady waddle! Nice. I am feeling the emotion of "crunch time" and need to get going on signing Tobin and I up for a tour of the special delivery unit and maybe a birthing-type (breathing) class. I have had two people suggest that I take a yoga class for relaxation techniques. I'm sure that is a great idea....not sure where or how to go about that. I also need to think about how to pack my hospital bag. Mom and I are going shopping, on Sunday, for some related items like a hospital nursing gown. It will be a birthday gift for me. My birthday is this coming Monday (19th) and Tobin's is Thursday (22nd)!

This past week was my last baby shower. I had mentioned it on previous posts, but hadn't posted any pics for my family and friends to see. A special thanks to Kodi for taking pics, and Gail for filming at the shower! Tobin and I were totally overwhelmed by the gifts we received considering that the faculty, as a whole, purchased us one BIG gift. It was a very nice shower with lots of school -related friends that Tobin hadn't met yet. We received the swing/bouncer that we had registered for and we LOVE it! We already put it together, which took about an hour, and it resides in the living room with the pack 'n' play. There is absolutely no more room in the house for any large baby items. The nursery is packed out as well. Those comments are blessings, not complaints!

Tobin has been sick for the past two days and I have had to get up twice in the night to check on him (he sleeps in the nursery), get him Tylenol, and take his temperature. We think the fever broke last night. He has been very achey and tired. This is not like him at all. I have only known him to be sick twice in the last 4-5 years. So, overall, I get up about 6 times per night. I think this has just been part of God's way of getting me ready to take care of Tanner in the night soon.

We plan to do our Memorial Day decorating tomorrow and some visiting of family in the nursing home. Graduation is tomorrow night, so hopefully I have some energy remaining....have a great weekend!

  1. So cool to watch the pics of your belly growing online...which is all I have unfortunately. I can TOTALLY relate to how you are feeling of course. It's a major effort to get anything done, I know... Just imagine how you are feeling now, PLUS having a toddler to keep track of, PLUS working full time, AND having no husband in the house....yeah, that was me during the whole pregnancy with Griff. So keep in mind, it could definitely be worse!! love you, mel

  2. Thanks, Mel! Actually, I think of you all the time when it comes to pregnancy stuff. I even picture you in the old house trying to take care of Koen when you were in the last trimester! I don't know how you did it! You should have called me over more often! I have felt badly about it several times thinking about you doing all that while Brian was away in training and all. Yea, it could definitely be worse!

  3. I love that first photo. That is great. Props to Tobin for taking that photo. It's precious. Tanner will love that some day. I'm glad you found some shower pics worth posting. Have fun this weekend! Em and I are off to buy flowers!

  4. Thanks, Kodi! Some people gross out at animals lying on you, but I thought it was sweet! He does that within about 5 minutes of me getting on the couch.
I liked several of the pics you took, but plan to scrapbook most of them. Thanks again for taking them!

    I found the hospitalbag.org to be helpful...whomever you are.....thanks!

  5. I sooooo feel your pain! I'm glad you wrote that blog because sometimes I try to explain how I'm feeling to my husband and I can't quite explain in a way that he understands. What you said about your pubic bone- that is my worst pain! Well, ONE of my worst. :) I haven't asked my doctor about it because I just assumed it was normal pregnancy pain, but I'm glad that you asked and got it explained to you - about how your pelvic bones are stretching apart. That is kind of what I figured, but never asked. It really hurts to walk doesn't it? Sometimes just lifting my leg kills, like when I have to turn over in bed. Trying to scoot my legs over is an entire process in itself!! Sometimes it is just easier to get completely out of bed, turn around, and then get back in the other way. LOL

Oh so to answer your question - my email is suitedreamer at gmail.com by the way if you ever wanted to email me instead of leave a comment. But I actually haven't started using blurb.com yet. My sis-in-law has though, and she said she was liking it. I wasn't going to start converting my blog(s) over until the end of the year - just because right now, with our family blog, I've been back-blogging all the way back to 2003 when my husband and I first met so that those memories can be included in our hardbound book as well. And then of coures I want to include our baby and soooo I have just been waiting until the year is further along.

BUT, Tanya (pregnancy chic unrated) has been starting to use blurb.com, so she might be a better person to ask right now. She said she had some confusion with it at first because she couldn't figure out how to just upload your blog and transfer it. She was having to copy/paste manually. But then she said she finally figured it out.

Anyway I hope that helps. I'm glad your baby shower went well! I know what you mean though - we have no more room for baby stuff either. Not that we are complaining. :)

  6. I feel the same growing pains you do. I loved the picture of you on the couch. That really sums up how I feel as well. It's nice our turn is around the corner.

  7. Holly,

Sorry I have not been on in awhile...I have had NO time to blog....So tired after work and the computer all day and trying to keep up with Sydney, Mark changing jobs, the pregnancy, the house, last minute things to do before she arrives, returns, cleaning, just everything....I have NO time for me. LOL I finally did go get a pedicure last week. That made me feel better. :-)

I have been having contractions today....so it will NOT be long. The Dr. seems to think this weekend or sometime next week. I will have Melody call you. I wish she could be here for the birth.

I hope you had a great B-day and that Tobin has a great one too tomorrow. How fun!

Talk to you soon. I sure would love to get together.

    Love,
    Robin
