School wears me out!!

Well, our workdays are over and the students showed up today. I had totally forgotten how quickly one can get out of "teacher shape!" My voice, my feet, and my back were all wearing out by 5th hour!! I am thankful; however, that the week is a short one! My classes seem great so far. I have the same students, with the exception of move-ins and move-outs, as I did last year. I moved with my class to the 8th grade. This year will be a transition year, as I teach earth science as opposed to the life science in which I earned my degrees. Overall, I am happy to be back to school, even though I was depressed over the thought of losing my lazy, summer days. When I am in my classroom, I am in my element and I feel at home. It was neat to see the same smiling faces again too. That is not to say that I won't miss lying around, scrapbooking all day, and generally having NO schedule. But, I fell right back into the routine and hopefully my body does soon, too!

  1. I totally feel your pain, literally:) My feet are aching so bad right now! I think it takes about two weeks for my body to adjust. But, just like you, I feel right in my element, and I find myself smiling all day long.

  2. I smiled a lot today too!
Two weeks! UGH! I wanted to go for a run, but that seems insane based on what my feet are telling me! lol

  3. Hey Holly, I just wanted to let you know that the Fancy Pants chipboard came in today!

I can't imagine how weird it would be to have all summer off and then have to go back to work. I mean yeah I went to school but when it's your job...that's gotta be a little rough at first!

  4. Great! I'll be by this evening.

As for returning to school, it is a weird culture-shock, yet familiar feeling. Very hard to explain. I work better under pressure and with a schedule, so it is highly possible that I actually get more done with scrapbooking and around the house while in session!

  6. Glad to hear that you are enjoying getting back to work, even though it will be physically tough at first. It will be nice to have familiar faces again, and I'm sure that they will know more what to expect from you this year since it's their 2nd time. Does everyone like the new room?

  7. Well, I stayed in the same room, but decorated it with more earth science stuff, rather than life science. The lovely and polite P. Denney had to switch rooms and I have not inquired about her likes or dislikes. LOL The kids love my big room and really like the plants in there, so they say!
